Ahead of tomorrow’s Kogi State governorship poll, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 5,000 personnel, sniffer dogs and other machinery to ensure a successful, free and peaceful election.
A statement by the assistant commandant of the corps and public relations officer, Mr. Emmanuel Okeh, said the deployment is in line with its mandate to provide security before, during and after elections by monitoring the activities of political parties and political actors through surveillance and intelligence gathering.
The statement disclosed that the commandant general, Muhammadu Gana, who ordered the deployment, said while a robust security architecture has been put in place to secure lives and property of the electorate, adequate arrangements have also been made for officers and men of the corps.
The NSCDC boss called on political gladiators to play by the rules and not to take laws into their hands by carrying out any acts inimical to the peaceful conduct of the election. He urged politicians to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.Friday, 20 November 2015
