Fayose disagrees with PDP over Audu

Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has denied ever saying that Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the Kogi State governorship election is not qualified to contest the election, reports Vanguard. Fayose on Wednesday disowned the statement credited to him that Audu was not qualified to contest based on alleged corruption cases he had in court. Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose declared that Audu had the right to contest the governorship election. He noted that in law, every man is adjudged innocent until proved otherwise by a law court. He said the statement he made at Lokoja during the grand finale of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governorship campaign rally centred strictly advocating for a free and fair election like that of Ekiti State. Fayose’s stance on the eligibility of Audu to contest the election, however, differs from his party’s position. The party has said that the fielding of former Governors Timipre Sylva and Abubakar Audu by APC as its flag-bearers in Bayelsa and Kogi States, was inappropriate. The PDP said the credentials of APC candidates in the two states makes a mockery of the APC’s anti-corruption stance. CREDIT: VANGUARDNGR.COM
