Senator Alex Kadiri, the gubernatorial aspirant from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has shown support to the opposition candidate.
Kadiri supported the second term bid of the Kogi state Governor Idris Wada from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The senator who lost the party’s ticket to Prince Abubakar Audu, the APC’s flag bearer in today’s poll, spoke to newsmen at Odu Ogboyaga ward 001 in Dekina local government and said Wada is the best among all the gubernatorial aspirants.
Kadiri expressed his delight over the peaceful nature of the elections so far, while he accepted that he is yet to get news from other polling stations.
Inhis own part, Chief Salifu a second class traditional ruler, said from the reports he has got so far, the poll is going on peacefully.
He said:“I have been talking to my people to cast their votes and go back. This is what I have been telling them.”
22 members of the party (both new entrants and old members) had indicated their interest to fly the party’s flag for the election.
However, Prince Abubakar Audu has defeated other contestants in what turned out to be a keenly contested governorship primary in Kogi.
